The pulley block of the mine hoist is a key component of the mine hoisting system, mainly composed of pulleys, bearings, brackets and lubrication devices. Its core function is to balance the load distribution and reduce the load of the hoist motor by changing the traction direction of the wire rope to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of materials or personnel. The pulley block is usually made of high-strength alloy steel or wear-resistant cast iron to adapt to the harsh environment and heavy load conditions underground.
According to the layout, the pulley block can be divided into a sheave (installed on the top of the derrick) and a guide wheel (used to adjust the wire rope path). The sheave is mostly used for vertical shaft hoisting and bears vertical loads; the guide wheel is commonly found in inclined shafts or complex tunnels and needs to have anti-sway and anti-jump groove designs. Some high-end models are also equipped with sensors to monitor the wire rope tension and pulley wear status in real time to improve safety.
Regularly checking the wear of the pulley groove, bearing lubrication and fastener status is the key to ensuring safe operation. The underground environment is prone to rust and dust accumulation, and sealed bearings and automatic lubrication systems are required. If abnormal wear of the wire rope or cracks in the pulley are found, the machine must be stopped and replaced immediately to avoid rope breakage accidents. In addition, the design of the pulley block must comply with national mine safety standards, such as the dynamic load test requirements in the Coal Mine Safety Regulations.
